With so much flurry of activity, public venues, and private showings we decided to present you two critiques in their interview form and unedited. We hope that it serves to assist other artists in understanding what galleries look for, and what makes fantastic art.

Here are two excerpts. We hope you enjoy these unedited remarks.

It depicts a woman running down a dark street with some bright light. I feel she is running from something. Our world is full of dangers, and this woman is feeling the danger. One can feel especially vulnerable in urban spaces. We all seek the safety of our own homes. The sense of the woman's motion conveys an urgency. The bright lights, and what is perhaps steam in the background, imply this is an urban setting. The woman seems afraid in this setting. She seems to be running away from it. It looks like a dark and scary place that she wants to quickly leave. 1. not totally abstract 2. I can understand what is there 3. pleasing colors or impact-full colors 4. evokes some emotion 5.fairly realistic looking.I like this piece of art because it is a scene I can understand and it evokes emotion (I share her urgency). It has a high impact on me. The colors are bold and sparse which increases the impact. The overall darkness implies fear.|I would not put it in an area where clients would view it, but in a more private place. I would perhaps put it in my own office. The high amount of turmoil in the world today makes us all feel less safe. This painting explores that unsafe feeling. I remember a painting of a strong Native American woman. The two paintings share a sense of independence and vulnerability at the same time. Vulnerability, Escape, Going Home, Alone in the Night, Hurry|woman, running, night, city, fog, escaping, modern, black, bold, urban.

The artwork shows the duality of man's nature. The figure is running out of the shadows and toward the bright light. The duality of man's nature is reflected in this piece. While we can sojourn into darkness, ultimately we are drawn toward the light. And when the light appears, we anxiously run to it and leave the darkness behind. The duality of man's nature is reflected in the strong contrast of dark shadows and bright neon yellow. The woman appears anxious and seems to run from the shadows that engulf her. Her little black dress tells us that she willingly embraces the darkness, yet she runs towards the light. There is a strength about her and a confidence that tells us we might meet her here again, somewhere between the dark and light. 1. composition 2. appeal 3. meaning 4. creativity 5. point of view. I feel the quality is good. There is balance and perspective in the piece. The sharp contrast is very appealing and the strong light elements border on overexposure. The shadows represent danger, the darker side of our nature. The bright whites and yellows are almost glaring in contrast. The woman runs but we don't know if she is running away from the darkness or towards the light. The strength of her figure implies that she accepts the duality of her own nature. I would use this artwork as part of a grouping in any meeting room where negotiations will take place. It would serve as a reminder of man's dual nature and the need to find balance. However, I would pair it with other positive pieces because there is a certain anxiousness in the woman's face. This painting of the running female reminds me of the many women who are anxious to embrace new freedoms but are not sure what role they will be allowed to play. On the one hand, they are escaping a dark existence, but one of relative anonymity. As they come out of the shadows, in a little black dress, the glare of reality may be harsh. The strong interplay of light and shadows reminds me of the artwork on the High Priestess card in the Rider-Waite tarot deck. In that picture, a serene priestess is flanked by two columns - one black, one white. Here, the balance of power is not established, giving the piece more instability, but an equally real sense of purpose. The Little Black Dress, Tenth Street Alley, From the Shadows, Taking It On, Wrong Shoes woman, black, run, dark, yellow, running, escaping, shadows, duality, overexposure.
